Things I No Longer Buy At The Store: Granola
If you have been following me on Instagram, you know I’m sharing ALL the things we no longer buy at the store. This includes food and home items. The goal for me is to find things that I can easily swap to make our house healthier and have less waste. If it stresses me out, it’s a no go for me, but I think we all have our ‘things’ that we can ditch and enjoy making on our own! haha! I still like convenience items for certain things…you won’t find me churning butter or ditching my paper towels anytime soon! Lol!
When I surveyed my Instagram audience about things they make from scratch, so many of you said granola! So today, I’m sharing some audience favorites and recipes I love to make too!
Pioneer Woman Nut Granola
My friend Abby shared this recipe! I can’t wait to try it!
Ingredients:
1/3 cup maple syrup
3 tablespoons coconut oil
1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup chopped raw cashews
1 cup raw pecan pieces
1 cup raw pumpkin seeds
1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1 cup unsweetened flaked coconut
Sea salt for sprinkling over the top
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Mix the maple syrup, coconut oils, vanilla, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
Add the nuts, seeds, and coconut tossing to fully coat. Spread in an even layer on a sheet pan and bake until golden, 25-20 minutes. Sprinkle with sea salt, let cool, and break into pieces.
Place in airtight container, where it will keep for 1 week.
Quinoa Granola
This is a granola recipe I came up with one week when I had way too much extra Quinoa! It became a staple in our house and it’s so yummy and nutty! Plus, it uses my crispy quinoa that I love to put on salads too! Make sure you save this one!
Grain Free Banana Granola
This recipe uses blended banana to help bind it together! It has a very mild banana taste and helps cut back on the sugar that is in a lot of granola recipes!
I have been having a nightly Greek yogurt to up my protein and also feel like I’m having a treat. Enter this mini chocolate chip granola! It’s so yummy and if you add the chocolate chips when the granola is still a tiny bit warm, everything sticks together nicely!
Ingredients:
3 cups old fashioned oats
1/2 cup walnuts or slivered almonds
1/2 cup unsweetened coconut
3 Tablespoons melted coconut oil
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Sea salt for sprinkling!
Directions:
Add all ingredients to a bowl. (Except the chocolate chips and sea salt.) Stir to combine.
Evenly spread on a baking sheet and bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes, or until it’s golden brown.
Sprinkle with sea salt when it comes out of the oven.
Let it almost completely cool and then add the mini chocolate chips. Stir together and enjoy!
If you have a granola recipe you love, please share it with us in the comments! Wouldn’t it be fun to try a new one every week?
XO,
Sarah
