3 Simple Summer Drinks (Non-Alcoholic)
Are you enjoying this Simple Summer Series? I love coming up with simple ways for you to enjoy summer and today I have some yummy drink recipes for you to try! Summer is the perfect time to indulge in refreshing and delicious drinks. I don't drink alcohol much anymore. (You can read about that here.) But I still like to have a few fun drinks around if I want something special.
Here are three of my favorites that are simple to make and perfect for cooling down on a hot day. Whether you’re looking for a fizzy treat, a zesty mocktail, or a creamy iced coffee, these drinks are sure to become your go-to summer sips!
1. Diet Coke with Pebble Ice and Lime Packet
There's something undeniably satisfying about an ice-cold Diet Coke on a summer afternoon. I know I’m on the healthy side and this doesn’t fit the bill for that category, but I take my chances to have something I love! haha! I take mine to the next level with pebble ice (if you don't have a pebble ice maker, you can buy it by the bag from Chick-fil-A.) And I'm obsessed with True Lime packets. You can use fresh lime too, but I find these to be better! The pebbled ice gives the drink a fun, crunchy texture, while the lime packet adds a burst of citrus flavor that perfectly complements the crispness of the Diet Coke. It’s a simple yet refreshing treat that’s incredibly easy to make. Try it in a frosty glass or a mule cup! These are the cups we have.
Ingredients/Directions:
- 1 can of Diet Coke (must be cold)
- 1 cup of pebble ice
- 1 True lime-flavored drink mix packet
2. Paloma Mocktail
A Paloma is a delightful cocktail that combines the tartness of grapefruit with the zing of lime and a touch of sweetness. It’s traditionally made with tequila, but I have a mocktail option that’s just as delicious! (If you want to add the tequila, try 1-2 oz per drink depending on how strong you like it!)
Ingredients for Mocktail Paloma:
- 2 oz fresh lime juice
- 2 oz grapefruit juice
- 1/2 oz simple syrup
-Or make your own simple syrup with this recipe
- Club soda
- Salt for rim (optional, but in my opinion is a must)
- Grapefruit slice for garnish
Instructions:
1. Rim a glass with salt (optional).
2. In a shaker, combine grapefruit juice, lime juice, and simple syrup. (If using tequila, add it here.)
3. Shake well and pour over ice in the salted glass.
4. Top with club soda and garnish with a grapefruit slice.
3. Simple Iced Coffee with Frothed Heavy Cream
For coffee lovers, there’s nothing like a chilled iced coffee to start the day or enjoy in the afternoon. Adding frothed heavy cream on top makes it extra special and indulgent.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of brewed coffee or espresso, cooled (We use a Moka Pot to make ours.)
- Ice cubes (Use the pebble ice here too!)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- Sweetener of choice (optional) I like to buy the sugar-free Vanilla syrups from HomeGoods to have on hand for some sweetness. This is the one I buy. Or raw sugar is yummy too!
Instructions:
1. Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the cooled coffee over the ice.
2. In a small jar or use a frother, froth the heavy cream until it becomes thick and frothy.
3. Pour the frothed heavy cream over the iced coffee.
4. Add sweetener if desired, stir gently, and enjoy!
