How To Series: Thieves Laundry Soap Hack
I’m obsessed with natural laundry and I think that everyone should be looking into what they are using to wash their clothing! The chemicals in laundry soaps contain very strong fragrance that can aggravate allergies, hormones, headaches, etc! And making this one switch changed so much for my health, so I can’t help but talk about it!
I love my Thieves laundry soap and even better, I love to do this hack so it lasts longer! And yes, this natural laundry soap DOES work!
A few laundry myths:
Myth #1: Your laundry needs to smell like flowers or ocean breezes to be CLEAN! This is not true. Laundry should smell fresh, not like artificial fragrance. Tip: If you can smell it after a day, it’s too strong of a fragrance. The absence of smell is actually the cleanest laundry.
Myth #2: You need a full cup of laundry soap per load for it to work! Too much soap can actually harm the fibers of clothing and over time break your washing machine. Most people use WAY too much laundry soap.
Myth #3: Plant based laundry soaps don’t work! We have used this soap in our home for 4 years and I will never go back! Our laundry is clean and fresh without the chemicals!
Here’s my easy way to hack your laundry soap and make it last longer!
Supplies:
32 oz pump bottle
1 caps Thieves Household cleaner
20 drops essential oil of your choice. I like lemongrass. This is optional.
Water
Funnel
Directions:
1) Fill the 32 oz pump bottle 1/3 of the way with the laundry soap. Use the funnel to make this easier. Save the rest for next time. I like to add the date on the bottle when I first open it to see how long it lasts me.
2) Add 2 capfuls of Thieves cleaner.
3) Add your essential oils. Lemongrass is the best, longest lasting scent in my opinion. Lemon is also good because it provides even more stain fighting power.
4) Top with water and swirl to combine.
5) Add 5-6 pumps to each load of laundry.
