Day In The Life: Balancing Work, Health, and Family
Sharing all the things I do in a day to maintain my wellness and sanity! From a 46 year-old mom of 2 who works from home! I actually love to see other people’s routines and share snippets of mine on Instagram, but thought it would be fun to lay it all out on the blog. What’s the most important part of your routine that you will never give up?
Mornings:
I usually wake up around 6:00 and my newest habit is to drink non-caffeinated greens with Baja Gold sea salt before coffee! This was such a hard change for me, but after a few weeks, it’s a new habit I love. I also walk on my walking pad for about 30 minutes while I scroll my phone before the kids get up. (This is similar to the walking pad I use.) Sometimes, I wear a weighted vest. Mine is only 8lbs so it’s a nice addition without being crazy heavy. Then when the kids get up, I have my coffee. I do a little heavy cream and milk. (I have switched my coffee routine so many times, but this is my current favorite.) I also take morning supplements. I’m at the stage of life where I need an AM/PM medicine organizer, but it’s so helpful. I take Vitamin D/K and methylfolate. After the kids go to school, I either start working or 3 days a week I do a weight workout. I usually have a piece of sourdough with peanut butter and honey before I work out, then I’ll have some eggs after! (Sometimes, I’ll do a 2nd cup off coffee over ice!)
Daytime:
I do all of my work from home. I currently have 7 different clients that I help with email marketing, social media, and Pinterest marketing, so I spend my day checking in with them and getting their work done. I really love this work and am so thankful for my blog and what I have learned in my own business. This has made me realize that I really like helping other women with those aspects of their business. I also take a break to walk outside or walk on my walking pad again. For daily wellness, I try to drink a ton of water and I always (for almost 6 years) have a packet of Ningxia Red after lunch. I always finish working by 3:00 because that’s when my kids come home and the afternoon craziness starts.
Dinner time:
I do plan out meals out so that I know what I’m making every night. I keep a Pinterest board here, with ideas. I also shop the sales and plan our meals around that. Our ‘recipes’ aren’t too complicated, I just try to have a protein and veggie. I get ideas from Pinterest and also this newsletter. I try so hard to eat as a family every night. Having all four of us around the table is my favorite time of day. Not always possible with busy schedules, but it’s my number one priority when the schedule allows. After dinner is when I take medication and the rest of my supplements. It’s the best way for me to remember! I take magnesium in the evenings and will never stop. I notice such a difference in my sleep and calmness if I miss a night. I also no longer drink alcohol, but I will have a Diet Coke with lime if I want a special drink.
Bed time:
My night routine is rather extensive. As someone who suffered from night time anxiety a few years ago…I know that I need all the steps to have a good sleep! On nights we aren’t busy, I always take a bath the epsom salts and lavender. We usually go up around 9:00 and read or scroll. Haha. I know it’s a bad habit but it actually calms me to watch cat videos before bed! My non-negotiables for sleep: Essential oil on my wrist, lip balm, mouth tape, eye mask, and a brainwaves soundtrack from the Breethe App. Plus, my husband and I have our own comforters so there is no cover stealing!
I’d love to know the best part of your routine! Please share in the comments!
