Day 6 | Let’s clean the oven!
Grab your Thieves Cleaner, some baking soda and a cloth. Unless you have Thieves Kitchen and Bath Scrub and then definitely grab that!
Make a paste of Thieves and Baking soda and rub it all over, letting it sit for a few minutes and then give it some elbow grease!
Make sure to wipe the oven out well.
Soak the oven racks in your sink with some Thieves dish soap, you can use your Thieves scrub if those need some extra cleaning power.
Remember to spray and wipe down the outside of the oven door too!
There is nothing like a clean oven!!!
Toxic Kitchen Culprits
The most popular bathroom and kitchen scrub brand on the market comes with rave reviews and a toxic cocktail of chemicals. After water, it’s top ingredient is Sodium Hypochlorite.
Here are a few of the necessary warnings around this particular item we are voluntarily keeping in our cabinets:
“Sodium hypochlorite (chlorine bleach) is a corrosive substance, meaning that it will eat away at materials it contacts. Accidental sodium hypochlorite poisoning can be deadly. Severe injuries can occur to the mouth, throat, esophagus and stomach. Severe injuries include bleeding, holes in body tissues, and permanent scars and narrowing of the esophagus.
Breathing chlorine gas from sodium hypochlorite solutions causes nasal irritation, sore throat and coughing. Skin contact with low levels of this chemical irritates the skin, but strong sodium hypochlorite solutions cause burning pain, redness, swelling and blisters. Eye contact with mild bleach solutions may cause short-term mild irritation, but solutions that are more powerful cause severe eye injuries.”
“One of the leading causes of child and infant death in the US is the ingestion of cleaning products. Poisonings by cleaning products have increased exponentially since the pandemic as disinfectant use has increased. Bleach is a deadly poison when swallowed by children and, when mixed with other powerful cleaning products, like ammonia, it creates chlorine gas which is deadly if inhaled. As with all conventional cleaning products, bleach should never be mixed with any other product unless following the exact instructions of the manufacturer and it should be labeled and stored carefully away from children and pets.”
And don’t even get me started on oven cleaners. The WORST cleaning product on the market. Shouldn’t be legal.
The above is a little blip out of a HOST of studies and information on this. You can look it up. That’s a hard pass for me.
