Day 12: Toy cleaning time! (Clean pet toys or other decorative items if you don’t have kids at your house.)
Grab your Thieves Cleaner and add a splash of the concentrate to a sink or tub of water. Throw in toys that can get wet and spot treat fabric items with Thieves Dish soap. Make sure to rinse and dry.
For toys that can not be immersed, use Thieves Cleaner spray.
Throw toys that can be washed in your washing machine with 2 capfuls Thieves Cleaner.
Involve kids in this project and decide on some items that could be donated to make it simpler to keep items picked up and to enjoy them!
Bleach
Many common cleaning products under your sink are considered hazardous substances and are regulated by the Federal Hazardous Substance Act. Ammonia and chlorine bleach can cause headaches, burn the skin, and irritate the eyes and respiratory tract. Accidentally mixing ammonia and chlorine bleach releases toxic chlorine gas that damages lung tissue and impairs lung function. Cleaning with bleach and Windex? A potentially deadly experiment.
Also, regularly cleaning with bleach—which generally contains chlorine, classified as a hazardous air pollutant in the 1990 Clean Air Act—is particularly harmful to kids because it can trigger and worsen asthma.
Experts explain that children's toys don't typically require routine cleaning, but there are times when it's necessary. If you'd rather not risk the potential dangers of chlorine bleach, then there are several toy-cleaning alternatives... like Thieves!
