5 Simple Ways To Use Essential Oils

I love using essential oils in our home! When I first started using them, I looked for ALL the ways because I wanted to get my money’s worth! Here are 5 simple ways that we use them in our house! Plus, some of my favorites for each!

#1: Put them on

I love to use essential oils as perfume. Some of my favorites are Peace + Calming, Stress Away, Orange, or Idaho Blue Spruce. I put a drop on my head, run it through my hair, or put a drop on my wrist. Some things to consider when doing this! If you’re a newbie, you will want to test by adding a carrier oil (jojoba or coconut oil) to your essential oils. Some oils can bother the skin, others I’m fine using! Peppermint, wintergreen, and cinnamon are examples of ‘hot’ oils that can aggravate the skin when used topically! Bottom line, test it first and stay away from hot oils directly on the skin! If you want to make rollers using your oils, here is my ultimate list of recipes!

#2: Use them on wool dryer balls

Are you using wool dryer balls in your laundry yet? You can ditch those dyer sheets and use these instead. It’s so easy to scent them! Just put a few drops of essential oils right on the before you toss them in the dryer. I usually do 2-3 wood dryer balls per load. Favorite oils for the dryer are lemongrass, purification, thieves, and orange.

#3: Put a few drops on your vacuum filter

Does your vacuum have a filter that comes out? I love this trick to freshen while I vacuum. My favs are orange or Christmas spirit (yes, I use this year round). Take out the filter, add a few drops, return the filter and vacuum! Keeps that musty smell out of the vacuum and freshens the room. If your vacuum doesn’t have a removable filter, put a few drops on a cotton ball and place it in the bag or canister!

#4: Make a diffuser bomb

Want to recreate a candle blend and have it on hand on repeat? Make a diffuser bomb. This is basically a dropper bottle and you add multiple drops of your favorite oils to make a blend! This way you don’t have to grab all the bottles every time and you’re ready to go! Use the recipe above and multiply times 5 or 10 drops depending on the size or your dropper bottle!

#5: Freshen your bathroom

When you change your toilet paper roll, put a few drops of oil right on the cardboard inside. Then every time it’s used, you’ll smell it! I like purification or lemon! You can also put a few drops of oil on a cotton ball and drop it in the trash can to freshen the room!

Was this helpful? Let me know in the comments what your favorite way to use essential oils is! There are dozens of ways to use them, which is why I love them so much!

XO,

Sarah
